The Rudston Monolith

Description
Standing at nearly 26 feet (8 meters), this is the tallest standing stone in the United Kingdom. Erected in the Late Neolithic period, the stone is deeply entrenched in local folklore. The primary legend states that the Devil, angered by the construction of the adjacent church, threw this massive stone dart to destroy it. His aim was off, and the stone embedded itself deeply into the ground beside the churchyard, where it remains today.
