Edale Cross

Description
Carved from local gritstone, this medieval cross was originally erected by the abbots of Basingwerk Abbey. For centuries, it has served as a crucial boundary marker delineating the three historic wards of the Royal Forest of the Peak: Campana, Longdendale, and Hopedale. It stands isolated on an ancient packhorse route and is a protected Scheduled Ancient Monument.
