While classic silica-cemented puddingstones are famously concentrated in Hertfordshire, South Wales features exceptional equivalent Devonian-age conglomerate outcrops (locally part of the Old Red Sandstone sequence) that were heavily utilized in local structures and recognized as distinct geological landmarks. This specific site represents a protected outcrop where massive quartz-pebble conglomerate formations emerge, heavily tied to local industrial and regional heritage.
