Description
Positioned in the Pyrenees mountains along the historic pass of Col de Panissars, these monumental border stones were established following the Treaty of the Pyrenees in 1659. Negotiated to end decades of conflict between France and Spain, these markers formally established one of Europe's earliest modern, internationally recognized sovereign borders, defining territorial jurisdictions that largely persist today.
